Flickr in 2025

Over the last few months I have been toying with where to make my presence online. Traditionally, I’ve avoided Facebook & Instagram, only posting a few times a year on Instagram and never posting on Facebook, which is reserved for staying up to date on local groups.

Now, given Meta’s more recent political stances and to support my desire to continue to stay off of Instagram and Facebook, I’ve decided to take up shop on Flickr and I encourage you to do so too.

I have always had a soft spot for Flickr. I remember making an account 15 years ago when I got my first point and shoot camera and began uploading random photos.

Since then, Flickr has changed a little, gone through a variety of owners but for the most part, remains the same. You post photos and favorite, comment and follow people you like. No influencers, no bs, no ads (if you pay), no crazy algorithm to keep you addicted.

Sure, the community is smaller but it’s focused - it’s all about photography and only photography.

So, if you’re looking for something old but new, something different, something more mature and low-key, give Flickr a shot.

Feel free to give me a follow, as all my adventures, will be posted and shared over there going forward. I hope to see you over on Flickr. Until next time, thanks for reading.

P.S. As a reminder, I am fairly active on Bluesky, posting photos and commentary often enough and I’d love to see you over there too.
